This is what 'Loud & Clear' was
about:
'LOUD AND CLEAR?'
REVEALING GOD’S
WORD TODAY
Exeter University, Monday 19th-Thursday
22nd July 2004
Are you interested in what goes on in
your parish?
Does it matter to you how we relate to
one another?
How do we relate to those we meet who
may be seeking God?
How can we share God’s word in
languages all can understand?
If so, this conference is for YOU.
It’s about how
we can communicate our Faith
powerfully
… and it matters to us all.
Who was there?
People from the dioceses of Clifton, Plymouth and
Portsmouth: parishioners, catechists, members of parish councils, clergy,
parents, teachers and anyone else who was interested!
What happened?
The main speaker at the conference was Fr
Ronald Rolheiser, a Canadian priest and author who has helped many people
throughout the world to explore what it means to live as followers of Jesus
Christ in a world which is largely indifferent to the Good News.
The conference also included 43
workshops which looked at various aspects of
how we reveal God’s word today. Subjects covered were as diverse as mime,
catechesis, working with those on the margins, art, music, flower arranging,
collaborative ministry, prayer, group skills and using Scripture. Participants
were able to take part in four workshops from an original choice of six.
We expressed our unity through joining in the
celebration of a variety of liturgies
whose aim was to renew our sense of being Church in the world and build up our
confidence to proclaim the Good News.
'I’m still not sure if it’s for me!'
‘Loud and Clear?’ was about our lives, about what is
happening to us, and about how we, as Catholic Christian adults, express what we
believe. It was an opportunity to gather, celebrate who we are, explore what we
might become, and go home renewed in the knowledge that we have the message of
eternal life – and that it’s a message to be shared.
Exeter seemed a long way away :
but it was chosen because the facilities there were what was needed for a
conference of this size.
