You may have heard that our parish share of the funds is in excess of £80,000. Since this money was raised for the unique purpose of improving our church, an Impact Committee has now been formed by Fr Jamie and will be responsible for advising how the parish element of monies raised should be disbursed. The Impact Group will consist of Fr Danny (as incoming parish priest), Clare Bassett, Alistair Wilson and Nick Philbee who together will advise and suggest proposals with the existing Finance Committee. My thanks to you all as we completed a very successful campaign.
Fr Jamie
PAPAL VISIT: There will be two public venues open to us if you want to attend the Pope’s celebration visit to England. Our Pastoral Area (Brockenhurst, Lymington, Milford, New Milton) has been allocated 100 places for this event, costing £10 each. The second is the Mass for the Beatification of Cardinal Newman in Cofton Park, Birmingham. We have been allocated 70 places for this on Sunday 19th September. ‘WAYS OF PRAYING’ WORKSHOP: 11th September, 10.00 am to 3.30 pm, Methodist Church Hall, Avenue Road, Brockenhurst. The focus will be on Hildegard of Bingen who was a scientist, healer, artist, singer and composer, abbess and advisor to the hierarchy. She had a particular feel for the natural world, so part of the day will look at a spirituality of the environment. There will be two presentations, time for prayer and some discussion. Mary Dunn will facilitate the day. Please bring a packed lunch. To book, please phone 01590 622301.
BASICS BANK: In June, we helped 46 families who, through no fault of their own, could not afford to buy food and other essentials and were referred to us by social work agencies. Basics Bank depends on gifts – the shelves are empty so we have to buy over £200 worth of goods every week. It would be wonderful if you could put some tins of food or household essentials in the blue box just inside the church porch.
BRACELETS & ROSARIES for sale on Sunday after Mass in the Parish Rooms. All proceeds to Immaculate Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries who work with vulnerable children in the Philippines. Enquiries: 01590 678525.

READERS & EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: The four parishes of the New Forest Pastoral Area (New Milton, Milford on Sea, Lymington & Brockenhurst) are arranging Days of Recollection for all Readers and Eucharistic Ministers on 9th October and 30th October next at St Dominic’s Priory. The days will be conducted by Fr Danny McAvoy, SMM and will be identical in their content. There are about 100 Readers and Eucharistic Ministers in the Pastoral Area – too many to accommodate at the Priory in one day. The plan is for all four parishes to mingle their attendance so we can all get to know each other better. So please put a note in your diaries now to reserve both days for the time being and we will advise which one to attend nearer the time.
Please send newsletter items to the Presbytery, details as Parish address above.
